Request a quieter room away from common areas for a more peaceful stay, especially if you’re sensitive to noise at night.

The Duke of Cornwall Hotel offers a classic charm that captivates right from the entrance. The staircase adorned with gas lights adds to its allure, creating a warm atmosphere. My room was spacious, featuring a massive bed and a nice-sized bathtub, but I encountered issues with the bathroom window that wouldn’t close properly. It rattled during windy nights, which was quite unsettling. The radiator needed bleeding due to trapped air, leaving the room cooler than desired. Cleanliness stood out—it felt really well-maintained. On the downside, the window in the bedroom also rattled, and there were some stains on the carpet that hinted at the hotel’s age. The lack of coasters for drinks on the wooden furniture felt like an oversight. Dining options weren’t promoted well. no menu was provided which led me to dine out elsewhere. Despite these hiccups, the staff were friendly and accommodating, especially when I asked to leave my luggage for a few hours after check-out. The location is excellent, just a stone's throw from the main attractions. I enjoyed my stay but found that some maintenance attention could enhance future visits.

Recommend it for couples on a budget
The staff here were outstanding, just couldn't do enough for us. One memorable moment was when they helped with my wheelchair and quickly offered to carry our bags, really made things smooth for us.
It wasn't dirt cheap but still reasonable for what we got.
